    Week of June 14-18, 2021

    Intro into Kindergarten (Week 1 &/or 2) – Students entering into Kindergarten will join Mrs. Colbert for a fun-filled morning! Students will become familiar with the classroom, work on their letters, numbers and calendar skills. Families are welcome to sign up for 1 or 2 weeks. All materials will be provided.

    First Grade Rocks! Come and learn about First Grade through fun reading and math games with Miss Colson at the helm.

    Second Grade Skills Under the instruction of Mrs. Caprara, this program will give incoming 2nd graders an intro into the 2nd grade program.

    Creative Writing Mr. Amnott welcome you to the world of creative writing! Students will learn the ins and outs of poetry, fiction writing, screenplays and more. Students will craft their own original works and receive help and feedback from their peers and teachers in the hopes of future publishing in the school’s literary magazine and in creative writing contests across the country.

    Adventures in Book Land Let’s get creative with popular children’s books. Come for a story and then stay to make a creative project with Miss Colson.

    Crazy for Creative Writing With Miss Dunlop, use your imagination to create poetry, and stories relating to prompts or topics of your choice to enhance writing skills.

    STEAM & Literature Through hands-on and minds-on lessons with Miss Colson, we will read popular children’s books and work on STEAM projects that center around the stories. All new STEAM projects this year.

    Math – Strengthening the Foundation – Students will work on their summer assignments under the guidance of Mrs. Cotterell. Students work at their own pace and questions are answered immediately. Students can work both in school as well as remotely.

    Week of June 14-18, 2021

    Lights Up: Putting on a Play: Under the direction of Mrs. DeVivo, budding actors will perfect their performance skills by participating in a variety of Drama games and exercises that will improve their stage presence, diction, projection, and movement. A large part of the day will be spent working together devising an original play that will be performed in the Student Activities Center for family and friends on the last day of class.  Working on scenery as well as gathering props and costumes for the performance will be included, too!  The final performance will be held in the SAC on Friday, June 18th. (Details regarding how the final performance will be shared TBD depending on Social Distancing Guidelines in June) AM Session:

    The Modern Music Experience Under the direction of Mr. Amnott, students will learn the cultural and musical trends that shaped their current world. Collectively, we will trace the rise of hip-hop, dance music, rock, and indie rock from the birth of MTV to the present. Music videos will be watched and analyzed, lyrics will be written and studied to try and emulate the greats, and the backstories of some of our favorite songs will be unearthed.

    A Brief History of Sport Welcome to an immersive experience of the modern history of the four major sports in America: baseball, basketball, football, and hockey/soccer. Along with Mr. Amnott, students will trace the rise of the modern athlete on and off the field, as well as the way in which athletics have shaped our culture, politics, and fashion. Students will learn why ESPN and Michael Jordan paved the way for the modern athlete and the manner in which it is covered. Students will learn about the intersection of music, fashion, and athletics through Michigan’s Fab Five in the early 1990’s. Moreover, students will be picking their all time starting lineups after learning and watching highlights and clips of the athletes that they love, admire, and emulate.

    Summer Painting Camp This camp will teach acrylic painting techniques that focus on texture, movement, composition and color theory.  Students will learn to mix their own colors, set up and clean up their painting supplies and paint on canvas.

    Open Arts Studio Feeling creative?   Do you want to make jewelry, or paint, or build with clay, or maybe draw… how about watercolor, metal stamping, macramé, linoleum block printing, weaving, paper embossing or paper quilling.   Join Miss DiMaggio in the Art Room during Open Art Studio and let your creativity run wild.  Each day you can choose where your creativity will take you.

    Week 2 – June 21-25, 2021

    Disney Musicals Drama Camp! – Bring the magic of Disney to life on stage at OHA! Each day budding performers will meet in the SAC to learn songs and dances from their favorite Disney Musicals such as “Descendants,” “Zombies,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Moana” and “ Frozen” just to name a few. The students will also take part in a variety of drama games and movement exercises as well as make a craft that ties into the day’s themed musical.

    Nature Camp – Join Miss Colson and Mrs. Pruester for a fun morning of nature activities and crafts. Go on a nature scavenger hunt, make a birdhouse, have fun with sand…the morning will be filled with nature fun!

    Best Monmouth County Private School Summer Athletic Programs


    Week of June 14-18, 2021

    Pre-Season Basketball Team WorkoutsLed by Varsity Coaches Mr. Misson & Mr. Bruckmann, these workouts will give our prospective Mustangs a head start on the 2021-2022 season. Athletes should be prepared to work hard both mentally and physically. Workouts will include conditioning, game situations and video review of both technical and tactical skills.

    Tennis: Session 1 – Instructed in all tennis skills as well as scoring and strategy by Oak Hill Academy’s Director of Personnel and Administration and Tennis Coach (Past 36 Years), Miss Patrice Murray. This camp strives to improve a player’s overall game through instruction from our current Division 1 college coach at Monmouth University for the past 33 years. Miss Murray is in the Monmouth University Athletic Hall of Fame and was a former #1 Singles and Doubles player at Monmouth College as well as has been teaching private and group lessons for over 35 years
    • open to students entering grades 4-9 (graduating 8th graders are still eligible).
    • Instruction in forehand, backhand, serve, volley, lobs, overheads, stance, grip, scoring & strategy.

    Tennis: Session 2 Instructed in all tennis skills as well as scoring and strategy by Miss Patrice Murray.

    • Program will be modified according to their abilities.
    • Racquets are available upon request.

    Fitness & Fun!  – Mr. Rosenfeld will help campers enjoy some time both outside and in the gymnasium to exercise and play games!  Children will stay active by taking part in a variety of fitness activities and organized games before breaking for the day.

    Field Hockey: Session 1Led by Third Grade teacher Miss Maura Dunlop who played at West Milford High school (2011 County Champions) and Ramapo College. In addition, she was the West Milford Senior Travel team coach from 2017-2020. This camp serves as an introduction to field hockey for the Oak Hill community.
    • Open to students entering grades 3-5.
    • Introduction to pushes, slaps, drives, pulls, positions on the field, and game strategy.
    • Additional self-purchase prior to camp: shin guards, field hockey stick, and mouth guard. (click here for starter kit)
