Literacy Plus also known as LIT PLUS is our in-house program designed to improve and assist our individual students in the Upper School. Its goal is for the students to achieve academic success to the best of their ability.
We have developed a program tailored to core content curriculum subjects. Lit Plus is one 44 minute period that occurs 3 – 5 days per week and built into the regular school day. An Oak Hill Academy teacher oversees the class, he/she coordinates with grade level teachers seeking prescriptive advice, works on skill reinforcement, completing homework, and crucial organization skills for current and future assignments.
To make room for the Lit Plus class period during the day, we delay Foreign Language instruction for a semester or school year. To adjust for issues of familiarity and pace, we subscribe to Middlebury Spanish Foreign Language. When a student is ready to rejoin a Foreign Language elective, they resume instruction at their personal diagnostic level.
The results are measurable and the feedback overwhelmingly positive. If you would like more information or have any questions regarding LIT PLUS please call or email Mrs. Scheuer, Upper School Advisor at 732-530-1343 ext. 5 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
