Bonnie St. John Speaks

We are grateful to Ms. Desiree Dancy, mother of 5th grader Zora, who is a friend of Ms. St. John’s!

Ms. Bonnie St. John, accompanied by her husband, Allen Haines, visited our Lincroft, NJ Private School, Oak Hill Academy on February 19th in the Scire Student Activities Center. After an introductory video, 5th Grader, Zora Dancy took the stage to introduce Ms. St. John. Ms. St. John is a leadership consultant for over 500 different companies. She has risen to the highest levels of achievement in a variety of endeavors throughout her life. Despite having her right leg amputated at the age of five, Ms. St. John became the first African American to win an Olympic or Paralympic medals in ski racing! She won a silver and two bronze medals in the 1984 Paralympics in Innsbruck, Austria in 1984. Ms. St. John has also been honored by many of the US Presidents! Ms. St. John spoke to our students about resilience, perseverance, and optimism. She also had our students participate in a large question and answer session during her talk.

After he presentation, Ms. St. John stuck around to speak with parents and students as well as sign copies of her book as well as pictures of her in her olympic medals.
